The Dutchess County Drug Task Force arrested 23-year-old Najey Green in Poughkeepsie on Thursday (January 9) following an investigation into drug sales in the area. Green was apprehended in traffic with assistance from the City of Poughkeepsie police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Authorities recovered a significant quantity of cocaine and fentanyl from her vehicle.
Green has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond. Additional charges are expected to be filed as the investigation continues, according to Detective Sergeant Adam Harris of the task force.
The arrest was part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking in the region, with community members providing crucial information to the task force.
