A 53-year-old man, Thomas Case, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the October 2024 shooting of 20-year-old Anthony Cuozzo in Pleasant Valley. According to Dutchess County prosecutors, Case allegedly shot Cuozzo multiple times with a semi-automatic pistol during a confrontation on October 5, 2024. Authorities reported that Cuozzo had stabbed Case in the chest before the shooting occurred.

New York State Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at a residence on Rawls Road. Both men were transported to local hospitals, where Cuozzo was pronounced dead at Vassar Hospital. Case, after undergoing surgery, checked himself out and returned home.

Case faces additional charges of criminal possession of a weapon. He has been remanded without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29.

Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi expressed his condolences, stating, "The tragic death of Anthony Cuozzo is heart-wrenching." He emphasized the commitment to a thorough investigation and the pursuit of justice with transparency and diligence.
