Jurors in Kingston, New York, will hear closing arguments today (Wednesday, January 22) in the murder trial of Nyqwuan Monroe. Monroe is accused of fatally shooting Dominique Green on July 27, 2023, in Green's Midtown apartment. The prosecution has charged Monroe with murder, burglary, and criminal possession of a weapon.

During the trial, the prosecution called Green's ex-girlfriend, Shaliza Dhanraj, to testify. She identified Monroe as the person responsible for Green's death. According to Daily Freeman, Dhanraj was dating Monroe at the time of the incident. Her testimony painted a picture of the events leading up to the shooting.

The defense chose not to call any witnesses, resting their case without presenting testimony. Following the closing arguments, the jury will begin deliberations to determine Monroe's fate. The outcome of this trial will hinge on the jury's interpretation of the evidence and testimonies presented during the proceedings.
