The City of Poughkeepsie will hold a meeting tomorrow (January 23) to discuss the grant process for local youth activities. The city has allocated over $300,000 to distribute to community organizations that offer programs such as sports, performing arts, summer camps, and workforce development for children. Each program could receive up to $15,000.
Mayor Yvonne Flowers announced the initiative, known as the Youth Activities and Opportunities Grant Program. "We are excited to roll out this program again this year and look forward to the many worthy applications from organizations working hard to offer our children healthy opportunities," Mayor Flowers stated.
The information session will take place at 11 a.m. at City Hall, where city officials will answer questions and provide details on reporting and training compliances related to the program. Organizations interested in applying can find the application form and guidelines on the city's Youth Services Division webpage. Applications are due by February 10.
For more information or to discuss program eligibility, applicants can contact Youth Services Director Karen Williams at 845-451-4016 or via email at KaWilliams@cityofpoughkeepsie.com.
