An arrest has been made following a deadly fire in Wappinger over the weekend. Authorities have charged 34-year-old Robert Buda with arson after a fire broke out on Sunday (January 26) at a residence on Marlorville Road. Firefighters discovered the bodies of Paul and Joann Hait, both 65, inside the burned home.
According to the Mid-Hudson News, Buda was familiar with the deceased homeowners. He was arrested shortly after the incident and arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Justice Court. He is currently held at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center on a $500,000 cash bail or a $1 million bond.
