Hudson Valley Congressman Josh Riley remains hospitalized as he battles pneumonia. A spokesperson for the 19th District representative confirmed that there has been no change in his condition. Riley, a Democrat, shared on social media last week that he sought treatment after initially struggling with the flu. He was admitted to the hospital on January 19, shortly after his swearing-in earlier this month, following his victory over former Congressman Marc Molinaro in November.

Riley expressed disappointment at missing Martin Luther King Jr. Day events and an inauguration he planned to attend. In a post on X, he wrote, "After struggling with a bad flu, I went to the ER yesterday, and I’ve been admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. Very disappointed to miss MLK events this weekend and tomorrow’s inauguration, which I had planned on attending, but I’m hoping to be back on my feet soon." Riley's spokesperson stated that his latest updates were through his social media posts.

Riley, who has been active on social media, shared that he was beginning to feel better but would remain in the hospital until further notice. He has also posted about unrelated issues, such as abortion rights and Holocaust Remembrance Day. Riley's goals for his term include lowering costs, lifting the State and Local Tax deductions (SALT), and securing the southern border. He has expressed eagerness to work with Republicans to achieve these goals, while opposing tax cuts for billionaires or oil companies.

Riley's election victory was one of the closest and most expensive in New York state history, with a margin of nearly 4,000 votes. As Riley continues his recovery, his constituents and colleagues await further updates on his health and return to duty.
