A man is recovering after a dramatic rescue from a cave in Rosendale. On Wednesday (January 29), the tree worker was clearing branches from power lines when a falling limb struck him, causing him to fall 100 feet into a natural crevice. The incident occurred off Hickory Bush Road in the Rosendale hamlet.

Emergency services, including the Kingston Fire Department's Rope Rescue Team, responded swiftly to the scene. According to EMS1.com, the man was treated by two coworkers who descended into the crevice using tree climbing gear before first responders arrived. The Kingston Fire Department team worked for approximately 90 minutes to safely lift the man and his rescuers from the crevice.

The man, who suffered serious leg and side injuries, was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie for further evaluation. The Rosendale Police Department expressed gratitude to all involved in the rescue, including the Bloomington and St. Remy Fire Departments, Ulster County Emergency Management, Empress Ambulance, and the Marbletown First Aid Unit.
