Kingston is gearing up for the annual Saint Patrick's Parade and Shamrock Run, set to take place on Sunday (March 16). The Shamrock Run will kick off at 12:50 p.m. from Academy Green, followed by the parade stepping off at 1:00 p.m. from Kingston Plaza.

Organizers emphasize safety, urging participants not to throw candy from vehicles to prevent injuries to spectators, especially children. Those interested in joining the run can register at shamrockrun.org. The entry fee is $30 for adults and $15 for those 16 and under if pre-registered by March 1, which includes a t-shirt. Race day registration will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., although t-shirts will not be provided for late registrants.

The Shamrock Run will conclude at the foot of Broadway, and participants should note that transportation back to the starting line is not provided. The event will feature awards, including the Yvonne Sill Award for the school with the highest student participation and the inaugural Brian Hoek Award for the team with the most participants.

The parade will feature various participants, including Grand Marshal Bill Sutton, Irish Princess Cadence Tuey, and Mayor of the Day Rita Geary Schabot. Awards will be given for categories such as Best Band, Best Decorated Float, and Best Original Irish Spirit.
