New York State Police have issued a warning about a series of burglaries targeting Asian American residents in Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester counties. Over the past week, three separate incidents were reported, with thieves stealing jewelry and cash. Authorities believe these burglaries are part of a targeted pattern.

Community leaders have expressed concern over these crimes. Marjorie Hsu, co-chair of the Westchester County Asian Advisory Board, described the incidents as distressing and urged residents to protect themselves and their neighbors. Westchester County Legislator David Imamura noted that Asian American communities have faced similar threats since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

According to AsAmNews, police are advising residents to enhance home security by locking doors and windows, installing security systems, and keeping exterior lights on at night. They also recommend practicing personal safety by being aware of suspicious individuals or vehicles and avoiding sharing vacation plans on social media.

The New York State Police are working with local law enforcement to investigate these crimes. They urge anyone with information to contact Troop K Headquarters at (845) 677-7300. Spectrum News reports that authorities are also encouraging residents to join or create neighborhood watch programs to increase community vigilance.
