Dutchess County agencies are stepping up to assist the village of Millerton after a fire damaged its Highway and Water Department facility early Monday (February 3). The fire caused significant damage to equipment, prompting officials to ask residents to limit water usage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Millerton's Water Department, located on Route 22, suffered extensive damage, leading to a request for residents to avoid unnecessary water use and fill bathtubs for flushing toilets. The Millerton Fire Department, with help from neighboring agencies, quickly contained the blaze.
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino announced that the county and nearby towns are providing support to Millerton during this challenging time. Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks in front of their properties and contact Village Hall at (518) 789-4489 with any questions.
The village is assessing the full extent of the damage and will provide updates as more information becomes available. For further details, residents can visit the Village of Millerton's website.
