Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher has identified severe financial issues at the Samadhi Recovery Community Outreach Center in Kingston. Due to these concerns, Gallagher has involved law enforcement and decided to cease accepting payments or contracts with the center. She has also called for the relocation of residents receiving treatment at Samadhi.

The financial problems were discovered in Samadhi's 2023 records and were deemed significant enough to warrant immediate action. Gallagher's decision to involve law enforcement highlights the seriousness of the situation.

In response, Samadhi's Executive Director, David McNamara, has accused Gallagher of targeting the center to boost her re-election campaign. McNamara, who founded Samadhi in 2019, stated that the center will no longer seek contracts with Ulster County due to Gallagher's actions.

The situation remains tense as both parties stand firm in their positions. It is unclear what further actions will be taken by law enforcement or the county regarding the financial issues at Samadhi.
