Dutchess County will launch 'GoGo Veterans,' a new transportation service for veterans, starting March 1. This program offers two free rides per month for medical appointments and one free ride for errands like grocery shopping or personal visits. The initiative aims to support veterans by providing reliable transportation to essential services.

County Executive Sue Serino emphasized the importance of the program, stating, "Our veterans should never have to worry about how they’ll get to a doctor’s appointment or pick up groceries." The program is designed to make life easier for veterans who have served the nation. Veterans Affairs Director Adam Roche added that transportation should not be a barrier to a veteran's health and well-being.

Veterans interested in the program can register by calling the Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs at 845-486-2060. Once enrolled, they will receive instructions on scheduling rides. The county has already seen success with a similar service for seniors, providing nearly 2,000 rides in 2024.

The 'GoGo Veterans' program is expected to expand ride availability significantly, ensuring veterans have access to necessary care and resources. For more information, visit DutchessNY.gov/Veterans.
