A 26-year-old man from Kingston, New York, was arrested on Wednesday (February 18) for driving with fraudulent license plates. The Kingston Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit stopped the vehicle on Broadway after observing it operating in the parking lane. Upon inspection, officers determined that the license plates were altered.
The driver faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without a valid license, operating a vehicle without insurance, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket for Kingston City Court.
The Kingston Police Department is urging residents to ensure their license plates are legitimate to maintain public safety. According to Hudson Valley One, the police collected the fraudulent license plate as evidence.
