A Fishkill resident, Kieran Maddock, has been charged following an alleged swatting incident. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reported that Maddock, 41, falsely claimed multiple shots were fired at a residence on Tuesday morning (March 18). When deputies arrived, they discovered the report was a prank, leading to Maddock's arrest for filing a false police report. He is charged with falsely reporting an incident and is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.

Swatting involves making false emergency calls to provoke a large police response, often involving SWAT teams. Such actions can be dangerous and waste valuable law enforcement resources. Maddock's case highlights the serious consequences of swatting, which can lead to criminal charges and legal repercussions.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the incident or Maddock's motives. As the case progresses, more information may become available regarding the circumstances surrounding the false report.
