Officials have determined that a propane gas buildup caused the deadly house explosion in Hurley, New York, last Wednesday (March 19). The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 75-year-old Ralph Buecker and 58-year-old Cheryl Hathaway. According to State Police, the explosion was an accident, with no evidence suggesting foul play.

The blast occurred in Ulster County and has left the community in shock. Propane gas, commonly used for heating and cooking, can accumulate if there is a leak or if appliances are not properly maintained. Over time, this buildup can lead to a dangerous situation, as seen in this unfortunate event.

State Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the gas accumulation, but they emphasize that the explosion appears to be a tragic accident. The community mourns the loss of Buecker and Hathaway as they come to terms with the incident.
