A Dutchess County man with a history of felony convictions is facing new charges after allegedly stealing a truck from a driveway in Southeast, New York. Sean Turcios, 39, of Beekman, was arrested for grand larceny following a six-month investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred on September 8, 2024, when a resident reported his truck missing from Route 312. Surveillance footage and law enforcement databases helped track the stolen vehicle.
The next day, officers from the Danbury Police Department in Connecticut stopped the truck and arrested Turcios, who was charged with possession of the stolen vehicle. He served a six-month sentence in Connecticut before being transferred back to New York. Upon his release, Turcios was arraigned in the Town of Southeast and charged with third-degree grand larceny, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison if convicted.
Due to his multiple prior felony convictions, Turcios was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail, pending a future bail hearing. Sheriff Kevin McConville emphasized the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing efforts to address theft and related crimes in the region.
According to Mid Hudson News, the investigation highlights the cooperation between New York and Connecticut law enforcement agencies in addressing cross-state criminal activities.
