The City of Kingston is actively seeking lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. They are looking to fill positions at Andretta Pool, Splash Pad, and Kingston Point Beach. The hourly pay ranges from $18 to $24, depending on experience and certifications. Interested applicants must submit their applications by Friday (April 11).

This recruitment drive is part of a broader effort by New York State to address a persistent lifeguard shortage. The state has been working to boost recruitment efforts and offer incentives to attract more candidates. According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, there are 1,100 lifeguard positions available across 70 state park beaches and pools, with starting pay at $21.86 per hour.

Lifeguard candidates must meet specific requirements, including being at least 17 years old by the test date and successfully completing both the Lifeguard Qualifying Procedure and Training Program. The New York State Parks system emphasizes the importance of lifeguards in ensuring the safety of more than 25 million swimmers each year.
