Two men, Orion McLeod and Vincent Girard, face multiple charges following an attempted home robbery in Kingston on Monday night (April 7). Kingston Police responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Clinton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed McLeod, also known as Odie Ector, driving a vehicle in reverse recklessly, attempting to flee the scene with Girard as a passenger. The vehicle collided with a parked car, causing damage.
According to Hudson Valley One, McLeod, whose driving privileges were both suspended and revoked, attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended. Both men were found in possession of illegal substances. McLeod was also accused of damaging the property he allegedly tried to enter.
McLeod faces several charges, including attempted burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief, driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. Girard was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and obstructing governmental administration. Both men were treated for minor injuries and processed by the Kingston Police Department.
As reported by the Daily Freeman, they were arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail without bail. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about crime in the area and the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing such issues.
