The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency (UCRRA) in Kingston is celebrating its 2024 recycling accomplishments. Last year, the agency recycled over ten million pounds of materials and composted more than 14 million pounds of food scraps. Additionally, UCRRA successfully diverted 3.7 million pounds of waste from landfills, marking a significant step in sustainable waste management.

The agency, which has been operating for over 30 years, plays a crucial role in managing solid waste and recyclables in Ulster County. According to the UCRRA website, recycling is mandatory in the county, and the agency offers various programs to ensure compliance and promote waste reduction. These initiatives include educational programs and facility tours to help local businesses, schools, and institutions improve their recycling and composting efforts.

UCRRA hopes that by sharing these achievements, residents will continue to rethink waste and participate in conservation efforts. The agency remains committed to resource recovery and community engagement, encouraging residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
