The Columbia County Department of Health is reminding residents about upcoming rabies vaccination clinics for pets. The first clinic will be held on Saturday, May 10, at the PJ Keeler Columbia County Emergency Services Response and Training Facility located at 50 Grandinetti Drive in Ghent. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and is open to cats, dogs, and ferrets that are at least three months old.

Following the initial clinic, additional sessions are scheduled for June 12 in Chatham, September 6 in Germantown, and October 4 in Copake. All clinics require advance registration, which can be completed online or by calling the Columbia County Department of Health at (518) 828-3358.

While the rabies vaccinations are free, donations are welcomed to help offset the costs. According to Columbia County Health, animal breeders are advised to use their own veterinarians for rabies vaccines. Participants are encouraged to bring proof of prior rabies vaccination to ensure accurate expiration dates for their pets.
