Seniors at Saugerties High School have an opportunity to win one of three $800 awards offered by the Saugerties Retired Employees Association. These awards are designed to recognize outstanding students and support their future educational endeavors. The awards include the Buonfiglio Education Award, which is specifically for a student entering the field of education, another award for a student pursuing studies outside of education, and a third for a student planning to attend a vocational or trade school.

Applications for these awards are available at the high school guidance office and must be submitted by Friday, April 25. The Saugerties Retired Employees Association, which comprises retired faculty and staff from the Saugerties Central School District, is committed to supporting local students and community programs. The association remains active in the community, hosting events such as fall and spring luncheons and providing assistance to various school and community initiatives.

In the past, the association has awarded scholarships based on academic excellence and contributions to the school and community. For example, last year, Catelynn Brennan and Emily Schlosser were recipients of similar awards, which helped them with their college expenses.
