Ulster County farms have until April 30 to apply for grants aimed at boosting farm viability, energy efficiency, and climate resilience. The program, administered by the Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation (HVADC), offers grants ranging from $25,000 to $75,000. These grants target small and mid-sized farms with a net annual income below $1 million.
The initiative, funded through the ARPA-supported Agricultural Crisis Relief Program, supports projects that enhance profitability, production, and marketing capacity. It also encourages energy-efficient practices and climate-resilient operations, such as soil health improvements and water-saving measures.
According to Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, the grants aim to bolster the long-term sustainability of local farms amid rising costs and climate challenges. Eligible applicants include for-profit farms and not-for-profit organizations involved in farming activities.
Applications, which opened on March 19, must be submitted by April 30 at 5:00 p.m. ET. For more information, farmers can access resources and apply online through the HVADC website.
