Man Charged in Failed Arson Attempt in Poughkeepsie

A man is facing several charges after an alleged attempt to set fire to a building in Poughkeepsie on Friday (April 18). Police responded to a 911 call about a man refusing to leave an apartment on Rose Street. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect pouring gasoline on the building and holding a lighter.

The building was promptly evacuated to ensure the safety of its occupants, and the man was arrested at the scene. He is now charged with attempted arson, attempted criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and burglary.

The incident has raised concerns among local residents about safety and security in the area. The police have not released the suspect's name as the investigation continues. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
