A Dutchess County man, Jordan White, aged 42, has been charged with driving while intoxicated with three children in the vehicle. The incident occurred on Old Post Road in Wappinger. New York State Police pulled White over and found a one-year-old, eight-year-old, and twelve-year-old in the back seat. Field sobriety tests revealed that White's blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.

White faces charges under Leandra's Law, a New York State law that makes it a felony to drive drunk with a child under 16 in the vehicle. This law was enacted to enhance penalties for those who endanger the lives of children by driving under the influence. The law is named after Leandra Rosado, an 11-year-old girl who died in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

The case highlights the ongoing issue of impaired driving and its potential dangers, especially when children are involved. Legal proceedings against White are expected to follow, as authorities continue to emphasize the importance of road safety and strict adherence to DUI laws.
