Dutchess County officials have announced upcoming road work in the Town of Pawling, starting Monday (April 28). The project involves replacing two culverts on North Quaker Hill Road near Byrd's Hill Road, with the road expected to remain closed until the end of 2025.

The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) will oversee the project, which includes replacing the culverts, installing new inlet and outlet walls, widening the road to add shoulders, and installing new guiderails for increased safety. Local access will be maintained, but other drivers will need to follow a detour along North Quaker Hill Road, New York State Route 22/55, Connecticut Route 55, Gaylordsville Road (Connecticut Route 39), and Tabor Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and adhere to posted speed limits and traffic advisory signs. Flaggers will be present to ensure the safety of workers and drivers. The project aims to enhance safety for pedestrians and motorists in the area.

For more information, residents can contact the Dutchess County DPW’s Engineering Division at (845) 486-2925.
