The Hudson City School District will hold a meeting tonight (April 29) to discuss two significant proposals aimed at improving the district's infrastructure. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
The first proposal is an $8.35 million capital improvement project that seeks to repair sidewalks, renovate bathrooms, and enhance security lighting across all school buildings. The second proposal involves a $10 million Energy Performance Contract designed to boost the district's energy efficiency. This project aims to reallocate budgeted utility and operational costs into energy-saving improvements without raising local taxes. According to the district, the energy plan will help earn an additional 10% in state aid funding, with the state reimbursing 58.5% of the project's cost.
Both proposals will be on the ballot for the upcoming budget vote on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Residents can vote in person at designated polling locations, including the Hudson Central Fire Station, the Greenport Community Center, or the A.B. Shaw Fire House, depending on their district zone.
The district emphasizes that these projects are crucial for maintaining and modernizing the facilities to better serve students and the community. For more details, residents can visit the Hudson City School District's website.
