Dutchess County is inviting residents to a public hearing in Poughkeepsie to discuss the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan, the 2025 Action Plan, and the Citizen Participation Plan. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at the Family Partnership Center. This event offers an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to provide input on the draft plans, which outline priority needs and goals for the allocation of grants and funds.
The plans are designed to guide the use of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), specifically through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). These funds aim to address housing and community development needs, primarily benefiting low- and moderate-income individuals and families. According to the City of Poughkeepsie, the draft documents are available for public review until May 30, 2025.
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino emphasized the importance of public feedback, encouraging community members to participate in the discussion and share their opinions on projects and priorities. Mayor Yvonne Flowers also highlighted the value of public input in shaping future community projects, such as sidewalk repairs and park upgrades.
For those unable to attend in person, the draft plans can be reviewed online on the Dutchess County website. The public comment period remains open through the end of May, allowing residents to voice their views and contribute to the planning process.
