The City of Poughkeepsie has announced the reinstatement of entry fees for public pools starting this summer. The city had previously waived these fees during the COVID-19 pandemic due to limited access caused by renovations at Pulaski Pool. Now, as the pools prepare to reopen, the city aims to maintain and improve facilities with the reintroduction of fees.

According to the city's official announcement, children under the age of two will continue to have free access. However, those aged three to 17 will need to pay a daily fee of one dollar, while adults aged 18 and up will be charged two dollars. Season passes are also available, with youth passes priced at $35 and adult passes at $70.

The reinstated fees are the same as those in place before the pandemic and are intended to support the maintenance of the pool facilities and ensure safety for all users. The city has also been working to address a nationwide lifeguard shortage by increasing pay and offering bonuses to attract and retain staff, as noted in a previous announcement.

Residents can register for pool passes online, with more details on the registration process to be shared soon. The city appreciates the community's understanding and support as it invests in spaces that bring residents together during the summer months.
