The City of Poughkeepsie Procedural Justice Committee will host a public listening session on Wednesday (June 5) to discuss fairness, transparency, and trust in public safety. The session will take place at the Public Safety Building and is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share their views.

The Procedural Justice Committee plays a vital role in the city's response to police reforms initiated by New York's Executive Order No. 203. The committee, which includes community stakeholders and police officers, has been actively gathering recommendations to enhance the city's police reform plan. Key recommendations include creating a civilian oversight board, bolstering mental health partnerships, improving complaint forms, and increasing diversity within the police force.

The committee has previously hosted forums and focus groups to gather community input, which has informed their reform recommendations. The upcoming session aims to continue this dialogue, ensuring community voices are heard in shaping public safety policies.
