Plans are underway to install a temporary access dock at the historic Hudson-Athens Lighthouse in Athens. The lighthouse, which is 150 years old, suffered extensive damage after being struck by a barge being towed by a tugboat. According to the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society, the temporary dock was expected to arrive on Thursday (May 8).

The installation of the dock is a crucial step to facilitate repairs on the lighthouse, particularly the roof, which is scheduled to begin soon. Temporary stairs will also be set up by Monday (May 12) to allow workers to access the structure safely and carry out the necessary repairs.

Keith Flinton of KTF Dock is overseeing the installation of the temporary dock, as reported by the Daily Freeman. The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society is working diligently to ensure the historic structure is restored and preserved for future generations.
