An investigation is ongoing in Poughkeepsie after a violent altercation left three people, including a 13-year-old, with slash wounds. The incident occurred on Saturday night (May 17) at the Rip Van Winkle Apartments, located at the intersection of Main Street and Rinaldi Boulevard. Police responded to reports of a large fight at 9:49 p.m., but the crowd had dispersed by the time they arrived.
A short while later, a local hospital informed the police that three individuals had been admitted with slash injuries, all linked to the earlier fight at the apartment complex. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening, and all victims are expected to recover.
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is actively investigating the incident and is urging anyone with information to contact their confidential tip line at 845-451-7577. According to Mid-Hudson News, this is not the first violent incident in the area, as two separate assaults were reported in March on Rinaldi Boulevard and Cannon Street.
The police department continues to seek leads and encourages community members to come forward with any details that might assist in the investigation. The safety of residents remains a priority as law enforcement works to resolve these cases.
