A man from Wappinger is facing serious felony charges following an investigation into drug trafficking in Dutchess County. Alfonso Perez, 29, was identified by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force as a key suspect in the sale of cocaine and fentanyl across Wappinger, East Fishkill, and Beacon.

During the investigation, undercover agents purchased drugs from Perez on multiple occasions. This led to a search warrant being executed at his residence on Dugan Lane on Monday (May 19). The operation, assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit (SWAT), resulted in the seizure of over ten ounces of cocaine, approximately 500 Xanax pills, and materials used for packaging drugs. Law enforcement also discovered several handgun magazines and hollow point ammunition at the scene.

Perez was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A-1 felony, and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Justice Court and is being held at the Dutchess County Jail without bail, as reported by Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

The Drug Task Force continues its efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the area, urging anyone with information about drug activities to contact their confidential tip line. News10 reported that the community remains vigilant as authorities work to dismantle drug networks and ensure public safety.
