A woman accused of stabbing another woman in Ulster County is set to appear in court today (May 30). New York State Troopers arrested 38-year-old Shannon Marshall after she allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old woman multiple times at the Wenton Motel in Saugerties, New York. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning (May 27) when the victim answered a knock at her motel room door, leading to an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
The victim was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston with multiple stab wounds. Hospital staff promptly notified the City of Kingston Police Department. The investigation was handed over to the New York State Police after it was determined that the assault took place within the jurisdiction of the town of Saugerties.
Marshall was charged with assault in the second degree, two counts of menacing in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Authorities located and arrested her shortly after the incident, and she was processed at State Police Kingston without incident.
Marshall was arraigned in Saugerties Town Court and is being held at Ulster County Jail with bail set at $20,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond. She is scheduled to return to Saugerties Town Court at 2:00 p.m. today.
