The Germantown Central School District has finalized its latest budget proposal after the previous fiscal plan was defeated last month. The earlier proposal failed to secure the necessary 60-percent supermajority from voters. The newly proposed budget amounts to over $17 million and includes a nearly five-percent increase in the tax levy.

A second vote on the budget is scheduled for June 17. If the proposal is rejected again, the district will be required to adopt a contingency budget. This could lead to significant changes in funding allocations and potential cuts to programs and services.

The district is urging community members to participate in the upcoming vote to ensure that the budget reflects the needs and priorities of the Germantown community.
