The historic First Presbyterian Church in Hudson, located at 369 Warren Street, is in urgent need of renovations. An assessment by the architectural firm Architecture+ revealed that the 188-year-old church requires over $1 million in restoration work to ensure public safety and prevent further damage. The church, which is a significant landmark in Columbia County, has been a part of the community for nearly two centuries.

The church's most pressing need is a new roof, as part of a broader restoration effort. To address these needs, the church has launched a fundraising campaign called "1,000 Stars in the Sky" to gather donations from the community. The campaign aims to raise the necessary funds to preserve the church's historic structure, including its iconic clock steeple, which is visible from various points along Warren Street.

The First Presbyterian Church is not alone in seeking support for historic preservation in Hudson. The HRBT Foundation, known for its philanthropic efforts in Columbia County, has previously supported similar projects, such as the restoration of the Historic Robert Jenkins House. The foundation's focus on maintaining the area's cultural and historic resources highlights the importance of preserving Hudson's rich architectural heritage.

The church's restoration is crucial not only for maintaining its historical significance but also for ensuring the safety and continuity of its role in the community. The community's support will be vital in achieving the fundraising goals and securing the future of this cherished landmark.
