The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office has announced the results of "Operation Street Sweeper," a coordinated effort to dismantle street-level drug trafficking in the county. Launched on Tuesday (June 3), the operation led to the arrest of nine alleged drug dealers involved in distributing fentanyl and cocaine. The operation, which concluded on Tuesday (June 10), aimed to disrupt the availability of dangerous narcotics that fuel crime and addiction in the area.
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force, working alongside the District Attorney's Office, conducted undercover operations and executed search warrants in Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, and Beacon. During these raids, agents seized fentanyl, cocaine, cash, digital scales, and drug packaging materials. Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony P. Parisi emphasized the importance of this operation, stating, "These arrests send a clear message: if you are pushing fentanyl, cocaine, or other deadly drugs into our neighborhoods, we will find you, we will investigate you, and we will hold you accountable" (Dutchess County Sheriff's Office).
Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, the task force coordinator, highlighted the operation's success in preventing dangerous drugs from being readily available in the community. He encouraged the public to provide information about suspected drug sales, assuring that the task force will act on such tips (Mid Hudson News).
Operation Street Sweeper involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the City of Beacon Police, and the City of Poughkeepsie Police.
