The Social Security office in Poughkeepsie is set to reopen on Monday (June 30) following a period of renovations. The newly renovated facility will now welcome visitors at its main entrance located at 4 Academy Street. The reopening comes after County Executive Sue Serino and other local lawmakers urged the Trump Administration to keep the office operational and maintain full services.

According to Mid Hudson News, the office had been closed earlier this year, leading to speculation about its future. However, officials clarified that the closure was temporary and necessary for renovation purposes.

The Social Security Administration encourages residents to schedule appointments in advance to reduce wait times and ensure efficient service. Additionally, the agency recommends using their online services at ssa.gov, which is described as the fastest and most convenient way to handle Social Security matters.
