The Poughkeepsie Town Planning Board has chosen to remain neutral on a proposed temporary moratorium on new adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries. The town board is considering this six-month moratorium and sought input from the planning board. During a session on Thursday (June 26), the planning board decided not to take a position on the matter, leaving the decision to the town board.
The town board will hold a public hearing on the proposal on July 16. This hearing will allow residents and stakeholders to express their opinions on the moratorium before any final decisions are made. The proposed moratorium is part of ongoing discussions in Poughkeepsie regarding the regulation of cannabis retail dispensaries in the area.
The decision to remain neutral reflects the planning board's position to neither support nor oppose the moratorium, allowing for a more comprehensive discussion during the upcoming public hearing.
