The Ulster County District Attorney's Office in Kingston has started consolidating its operations into a single building on Joys Lane. Previously spread across six locations, the move aims to streamline operations and improve efficiency. The consolidation process began on Wednesday (July 2), with plans to complete the move by the end of the month.

The county legislature approved the purchase and renovation of the Joys Lane property late last year, allocating $3.5 million for the project. The new facility will not only house the District Attorney's staff but also accommodate the county probation department. Administrative Assistant DA Sajaa Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, "It seems like by the end of the month we will be finally under one roof, which is a big part of the DA's mission statement."

The decision to consolidate was made after the Ulster County Legislature unanimously approved the purchase of two properties on Joys Lane last November. The $3.7 million investment was intended to bring together several county offices, including the District Attorney's Office, to enhance service delivery and operational synergy.
