According to Credit Union Times, jugging has been on the rise across the United States, with incidents reported in states like Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Texas, and California. Criminals typically wait near ATMs or banks, observe customers withdrawing money, and then follow them to commit the robbery.
The Fishkill Police Department is reminding residents to stay alert and aware of their surroundings when using ATMs. Yahoo Tech suggests several safety measures, including avoiding distractions like cellphones, being discreet with cash, and varying your routine to make it harder for criminals to predict your actions. If you notice suspicious activity or believe someone is following you, head to a police station or a busy public area and call 911.
