Ulster County agencies in Kingston, New York, are set to receive a financial boost of over $520,000 to support crime victims and their families. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the funding, which will be distributed over three years starting in October. The funds are part of a larger federal and state initiative totaling nearly $379.5 million aimed at supporting programs and services for victims across the country.
The funding will benefit the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center, the Ulster County Probation Department, and the Family and Child Advocacy Center. These organizations provide essential services such as crisis counseling, therapy, and emergency shelter to those in need. The Crime Victims Assistance Program, a unit of the Ulster County Probation Department, has been serving residents since 1979, offering a survivor-centered approach and maintaining confidentiality for all clients.
The Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center and the Family and Child Advocacy Center also play crucial roles in supporting crime victims, providing a range of services to ensure their safety and well-being. The funding aims to enhance these services and address the unique needs of crime victims in the region.
