The developer of the LaGrange Town Center project, Joseph Amendola, presented his plans to the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency on Wednesday (July 9) as he seeks financial incentives. The $4 million project aims to create a vibrant, walkable town center in LaGrange.

Amendola's vision includes a mixed-use residential and commercial building on Route 55, featuring four commercial spaces for small service-oriented businesses and 14 apartments above. He emphasized the project's focus on smart growth and long-term value for the community. "Our goal is to create a walkable, vibrant, beautifully integrated town center that brings families, local businesses, and homeowners together," Amendola said.

The developer is seeking a mortgage tax exemption, sales tax exemption, and a payment in lieu of taxes from the Industrial Development Agency by the fall. The project is expected to include 600 single and multi-family homes, over 180,000 square feet of retail, office, and municipal building space, and a four-story hotel. Additionally, the plan will preserve 97 acres of open space and integrate natural areas for outdoor recreation.

According to Mid Hudson News, the project will also include innovative stormwater management techniques like rain gardens and bio-retention areas. JMC Planning Engineering Landscape Architecture & Land Surveying, PLLC is providing services for the project, including site planning, civil engineering, and environmental studies.
