Saugerties is set to introduce parking fees in two of its village municipal lots in the coming weeks. The lots affected are located on John Street and off Partition Street. This change comes as the village plans to launch the ParkMobile phone app, which will facilitate the new parking fee system.

During a recent Village Board meeting on Monday (July 8), officials announced the upcoming implementation of the ParkMobile app. However, the exact cost of parking in these lots has not yet been determined. Under the contract with ParkMobile, drivers will be required to pay an additional 20 cents per use of the app, plus a three-percent fee on the total transaction.

The decision to introduce parking fees aims to streamline parking management in the village. The existing parking meters on Partition and Main Streets will remain unchanged. This move is part of a broader effort to modernize and improve the efficiency of parking in the area.

As Saugerties residents prepare for this change, the village is working to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. The introduction of the ParkMobile app is expected to provide a convenient and user-friendly experience for drivers.
