Glendale Wright, a nineteen-year-old who pleaded guilty to shooting four people at a block party in Poughkeepsie last year, was involved in a jail fight just before his sentencing. According to Mid Hudson News, Wright was originally indicted on multiple charges, including attempted murder and felony conspiracy. He later pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in a plea agreement.

Wright was awaiting sentencing in the Dutchess County Jail when he was charged with assault for violently beating another inmate. As a result, Judge Edward McLoughlin revised the plea agreement, sentencing Wright to 25 years for attempted murder, with concurrent sentences of five years for the gun charge and one year for the jail assault. Wright will also serve at least five years of post-release supervision.

During the sentencing, the mother of one of the victims spoke about the impact of Wright's actions, highlighting the surgeries and hospital visits her son endured after being shot. Wright expressed remorse, acknowledging the pain he caused. However, Judge McLoughlin emphasized the severity of the crime, telling Wright, "You have no idea how much pain you have caused."

Wright's sentencing marks a significant chapter in a case that has deeply affected the Poughkeepsie community. As he begins his prison term, the families of the victims continue to cope with the aftermath of the shooting.
