A shooting incident in Poughkeepsie on Friday (July 18) left a 40-year-old woman injured. The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department reported that the woman was shot in the leg on the 300 block of Main Street just before 10:45 p.m. Officers at the scene provided immediate aid, applying a tourniquet before she was transported to a local hospital. She is expected to recover.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that bullets had also struck an occupied store and vehicle. Multiple pieces of evidence were collected from the scene, but no arrests have been made. The police are urging anyone with information to contact their confidential tip line at (845) 451-7577.
In a separate incident on the same night, a shooting occurred at Hulme Park during a basketball game, where another person was injured. The City of Poughkeepsie Police, along with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, responded to both scenes. The basketball game reportedly lacked the necessary permits, adding to the complexity of the situation.
According to Daily Voice, the police are actively seeking information from the public to aid their investigations into these incidents.
