All remaining summer swimming lessons at Oakdale Lake in Hudson, New York, have been cancelled, according to the city's Department of Youth. The decision was announced on Tuesday night (July 22) via a Facebook post. Although the department did not specify the reason for the cancellation, it clarified that the decision was not due to the presence of a potentially harmful algal bloom.

The deep end of Oakdale Lake has also been closed off to swimming, but the shallow end remains open for public use. Those who had signed up for future swimming lessons will receive a full refund. The city has stated that water-skills classes will be offered instead of the cancelled swimming lessons.

The announcement comes amidst a period of mixed weather conditions, with sunshine and clouds and the possibility of stray showers or thunderstorms, as reported by The Daily Gazette.
