In Poughkeepsie City Court, Judge Frank Mora sanctioned the Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office, citing the filing of a frivolous motion. An Assistant Public Defender filed a motion seeking sanctions against the Assistant District Attorney, which Judge Mora deemed unnecessary and a waste of judicial resources. He stated, "Motions seeking sanctions are only to be filed in good faith and must not clog the calendar." As a result, the Public Defender’s Office has been ordered to pay $500 to the Lawyers Fund For Client Protection. The decision is currently under appeal by the Public Defender’s Office.

According to Mid Hudson News, the appeal process is underway, as the Public Defender’s Office contests the sanctions imposed by Judge Mora.
