State Police in Kingston have closed a case involving 23-year-old Alonzo Jordan, who was accused of possessing child pornography. The charges were dismissed due to a lack of evidence. Jordan was arrested in April after a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to a search warrant being executed at his home. However, authorities found no electronic evidence to support the charges, leading to their dismissal in Kingston City Court on Tuesday (July 1).

The District Attorney's Office withdrew the charges, with Administrative Assistant District Attorney Sajaa Ahmed stating, "state police disclosed they did not find any electronic evidence of those charges." Jordan's arrest was based on a single cybertip, and no further arrests have been made. The investigation's focus on other possible suspects remains unclear, as officials have not commented on whether they are pursuing other leads.

Jordan, who lived in a four-unit apartment building where all tenants shared an internet connection, was the only Black tenant. His attorney, Joseph O’Connor, highlighted this fact during the proceedings. The Ulster County District Attorney, Emmanuel Nneji, declined to comment on whether there is an ongoing investigation into other residents who might have used the same internet server.
