Congressman Pat Ryan has announced the August schedule for his Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) Van, which will visit various locations in the Hudson Valley. The mobile office will provide direct assistance with federal agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs and the IRS.
The C.A.R.E.S. Van will start its August tour at the Elting Memorial Library in New Paltz on Monday, August 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will then travel to other communities, including Middletown, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, and Cornwall. Congressman Ryan's team of trained caseworkers will be available to help constituents navigate federal programs and access benefits like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
The initiative aims to support residents affected by recent federal program cuts and uncertainties, as reported by Congressman Ryan's office. The C.A.R.E.S. Van has been a vital resource since its launch in June 2023, reaching over 1,500 constituents and securing over $40 million in assistance for the district.
In addition to federal benefits, the van will assist with issues related to passports, immigration services, and military records. Congressman Ryan, who represents New York's 18th Congressional District, emphasized the importance of providing support directly within communities, especially during challenging times.
