A Vermont man, Maynard Davis, was arrested on Sunday night (August 3) after New York State Police discovered 72 grams of crack cocaine and over $27,000 in cash during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway in Pleasant Valley. The stop occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. when troopers pulled over a Chevrolet Impala for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

During the stop, a K-9 unit named Jet conducted an exterior search of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. This led to a probable cause search, which revealed $27,860 in cash and the crack cocaine. Davis, a 48-year-old resident of Brandon, Vermont, was taken into custody and later arraigned in the Town of Stanford Court. He is currently held in the Dutchess County Jail pending further proceedings, though no specific charges have been announced yet. The female passenger in the vehicle was not identified, and no further information about her has been released.

The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the New York State Police to monitor and enforce drug laws along major roadways. As the case develops, further details regarding charges and proceedings are expected to be released.
